I grew up living in the internal tensions between my sexual orientation and strict religious faith community. I lacked both language to process and safety to tell anyone. As the church placed high confidence in its doctrines and teachings, I felt unsafe to discuss their spiritual impacts on my life, including anxiety about spiritual worth, death, or to normalize my grief and loss. My Church gave me a narrative to anchored my life with purpose beyond the end of life… until I saw its gaps. When experienced spiritual estrangement I needed deeper ways to repent and forgive others to find healing and inner peace.

I have been an educator, academy chaplain for 6 years, and 16+ years as a hospital or hospice chaplain where I daily engaged with patients and families through hard times. I graduated from the Andrews University seminary with a Master of Divinity. And I am now an ordained minister in a nationwide progressive denomination and with 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education from the ACPE. I currently work for SpirituWell as a telehealth chaplain on demand for patients.
